Over the whole period, not this year alone. It is the number nobody can produce in an argument, which is rather the point.
Put in a salary and two dates and the balance appears here, with the working shown.

Does leave accrue during probation?
Service runs from the joining date, so the time accrues — but most of these countries do not let the leave be taken until a qualifying period is served. The UAE is the exception, with a named short-service rate of two days a month between six and twelve.
Is encashment paid on basic or on total salary?
On the basis the statute names, which differs across the six — and is why the salary box changes its label when you switch country. Where the law names basic, an allowance-heavy package encashes for far less than the total salary suggests.
What happens to leave I never took?
It is paid out at the end of the relationship in all six. What varies is how much carries from year to year — some countries and many contracts cap it, and a capped balance is where a figure calculated from the joining date starts to overstate.
Can leave be taken in advance?
Commonly, which is why this shows a negative balance rather than rounding up to zero. Leave drawn ahead of accrual is money the employer is owed back, and it comes off the final settlement.

Dawmo accrues leave on the employment record every month and prices the balance from the same record payroll reads, so the two cannot drift apart over a year and a half.
